Oslo has loads to offer, and one of the best ways to explore the city and its surroundings is by visiting the islands scattered across the archipelago. Viking Biking’s island hopping tour takes you around the best spots in the city, including historical landmarks, topaz shaded fjords, and flower-covered islands that look straight out of a fairytale!
Begin your day of island hopping at the ferry terminal downtown, at ‘Rådhusbrygge’ 1, where you get on a quick ferry to the first island of the day, Høvedøya. This island holds historical significance, with an abbey on site dating back to 800 years, as well as city remains from the 19th century. A tour guide will escort you around the island, telling you all about the island’s significance. After exploring Høvedøya, you set off on more boat rides to two other islands nearby, including the quaint isle of Lindøya - home to a brilliant summer village decorated with vibrant painted wooden houses. Here you can take a lovely walk on the flower-covered trails all over the island and let the serenity envelop you.
Make sure you carry your swimsuit as there will be time to take a dip in the sun-kissed waters of the fjord. After a quick stop for lunch, the final ferry ride of the day will take you to the city centre, some of the most stunning views surrounding you as the boat nears the harbour in Oslo.
You are encouraged to carry a towel and swimsuit so you can comfortably swim in the fjord. You can bring your own lunch or purchase it from one of the shops along the way.
Our guides will be wearing yellow "Viking Biking & Hiking" reflective vests while holding an "Island Hopping" sign. The guides will be near the platform E, which is where the public ferries depart from.
This tour is suitable for children aged 8 and over.
